To make India a model of accountable governance by providing its citizens a platform to actively engage with the country’s political and administrative establishment.
We intend to provide people a platform through which they can voice their opinions on matters of national importance and translate them into action when needed.
To sensitize the citizens of India towards enhancing accountable governance and creating structured opportunities on an ongoing basis.
We want to be an organization that seeks to create a politically aware and active citizenship which focuses on not just pointing out problems but actively engaging in identifying implementable solutions.
Our Story
Citizens for Accountable Governance Formed
June 2013 it was when a group of few individuals consisting of a fresh Graduate, a Lawyer, an Entrepreneur, a Software Engineer and two Investment bankers began to discuss the nation's current state at a restaurant's coffee table. What followed was a quick resolve not to just critique the actions of the government but to strive towards making a change for better. Citizens for Accountable Governance was thus born! A group of young and enthusiastic individuals with hope in their hearts and a dream in their eyes - a dream of making India a model of accountable governance. With this vision the group started its activities and people kept joining in. Today we are 45,000 volunteers strong and still growing....
Manthan Launched
India, being the youngest democracy in the world, Citizens for Accountable Governance realized the importance of inclusion of youth in the political discourse of the nation and hence, the first ever platform to involve the nation's college-going population in agenda setting of General Elections, was launched- Manthan. With Manthan, we aimed to reach out to more than 50% of the country’s college going population and to 'churn out' the most innovative solutions for inclusion in the political agenda for 2014 general elections.
One lakh supporters
In just about one month of being launched, CAG had one lakh people from all over India who supported us and our vision of making India a model of accountable and good governance.
